Revolving Credit Builder

A $500 revolving line to round out your credit mix

Most credit files are missing one of the two account types. This adds the revolving half — a $500 line reported to all four bureaus, unlocked after your first on-time payments, at no extra cost.

Why it exists

A file with one account type looks incomplete to a lender

FICO looks at credit mix, and a file holding only installment loans — or only cards — scores lower than one holding both, all else equal. This is the cheapest way to fix that.

  • Adds the revolving half of your file

If your only tradeline is an installment account, this is the missing type. Credit mix is roughly 10% of a FICO score.

  • Keeps utilisation very low

A small balance against a $500 limit produces a utilisation ratio in the low single digits, which scoring models treat well.

  • Reported to all four bureaus

TransUnion, Equifax, Experian and Innovis, on the same monthly cycle as your installment account.

  • No separate application

It unlocks automatically after your first on-time payments. No form, no fee, no additional credit check.

  • Ages alongside your other account

It stays open for as long as your account is active, contributing to average account age.

  • No annual fee, no interest

Nothing is charged for holding the line open, and no interest applies to the balance.

What it is not

Three limits worth understanding up front

This is a credit-building instrument, not a payment method. Being clear about that avoids disappointment after signing.

You cannot spend it anywhere else

The line works only within Kovo. It is not a Visa or Mastercard and carries no network acceptance. For a spendable card, a secured card is the right product.

It is not available on day one

The line unlocks after your first on-time payments on the Installment Credit Builder, not at signup. The installment account is the entry point.

It does not replace a real card

Lenders can see you hold a revolving account, which helps. It does not build the same relationship or graduation path a secured card from a bank issuer would.

Common questions

The Revolving Credit Builder — the questions we get asked

No, and that distinction matters. It is a revolving line of credit reported to the bureaus, but it can only be used within Kovo. You cannot spend it at a shop, online, or anywhere Visa or Mastercard is accepted. If you need purchasing power, a secured card is the product that does that.
Two reasons. Credit mix is roughly 10% of a FICO score, and a file holding only installment accounts looks less complete than one holding both types. Separately, utilisation is about 30% — and a small balance against a $500 limit keeps that ratio very low.
It opens after your first on-time payments on the Installment Credit Builder. There is no separate application, no additional cost and no further credit check. You will see it in the app when it becomes available.
No. It is bundled into the Installment Credit Builder at every tier. There is no annual fee, no interest and no charge for holding the line open.
Utilisation is your balance divided by your limit. Holding a small balance against $500 keeps that ratio in the low single digits, which scoring models treat favourably. Running it close to the limit would have the opposite effect.
